Editorial and Feature Design and Layout

The Spring ‘FASHION STUDIO’… Has an ongoing emphasis on editorial direction, type as image and the image of type…

Student learn what it is like to engage as an Editorial Director, to develop a highly creative artistic editorial layout based on leading historical precedents,

  1. Students research historical fashion: through lectures they study the styles and aesthetics of influential historical periods, such as Dr. Agaha, Mid-Century Modern, to Brodavitch, Liberman, Pineles to Warhol, Fleckhaus and Baron and Baron.

  2. Students advance historical precedent that resonates with the fashion brand and appeals to the target audience and open a new direction for a growing aesthetic

  3. The result is students reinterpret the historical style into a modern context, incorporating current fashion trends and elements that appeal to the target audience.

  4. The process is to plan the layout: and discover the overall composition of the layout, including the number and placement of images, typography, and any additional graphic elements.

  5. Create and manage the imagery: through original photography that showcases the fashion products and embody the historical precedent and modern twist.

  6. Design the typography: Create typography or work with type that complements and enhances the overall design of the layout.

  7. Further students Incorporate additional elements: Add any additional graphic elements, such as illustrations, patterns, or textures, to reinforce the historical precedent and modern twist.

  8. Evaluate and refine: Review the layout and make any necessary adjustments to ensure it meets the creative goals and appeals to the target audience. Students in studio develop additional layouts for the fashion editorial, each with a unique take and modern twist.
